How to Migrate from the Old Server to the New One.

The first question is not so much how as why. There are a number of reasons, firstly, because the facilities and features of the MilNetMail Version2 are much much better than on the old version. Also you should be aware that we will at some time in the future be CLOSING down the old web server so its important that if you wish to continue to use your MilNet mailbox you migrate to the new server. We have not decided on a date for the close down of the old server, but it will not be before 31 Mar 2005.

Before migrating, there is one important point to note. After you, migrate, you will automatically be subscribed at the new server for a period of one month as a PREMIUM LEVEL rate user following the date of migration. After this you will automatically be downgraded to the BASIC LEVEL (which has no spam, antivirus, etc, and which requires connection to the server via the MilNet 0845 'pay as you go' number). Use you free month at the Premium Level to explore the features available.

And now the HOW. Its very easy, simply log onto the new mail server, either by using the login box on the left (using WebMail), or by changing your Outlook (or other POP3 client) configuration to fetch your mail from tmail.milnet.uk.net, instead of mail.milnet.uk.net. Thats all there is to it.

After you have migrated your mailbox, use your free month to explore the features of MilNetMail Version2. We hope you like it! To set up and control the various settings, you should log on using the "My Control Panel" box on the left of the screen.

Important note. Only those domains that we have been offering for "free" eg @milnet.uk.net, @wizzo.org.uk, @army.mod.uk.net will require payment to remain at the premium level. Other domains which are already paid for will be migrated and maintained under existing agreements at no extra charge.
